Facilities

The Centre is situated at the top of a quiet street away from the busy part of the High Street. The rooms occupy the first floor of Avalon Hall and have their own discrete entrance.

Upstairs is a Reception Area where you can meet with our trained counsellors and look through our range of information leaflets.

Our Counselling Room provides a comfortable and private space where you can talk through the issues you are facing in complete privacy.

There are also appropriate facilities where we may perform a pregnancy test should you wish.

Code Of Practice

Through the Centre, as Trained Advisors, we are committed to providing:

»Counselling, whereby support is given to women, (their partner and families, where appropriate), enabling them to explore their situation, feelings and beliefs, equipping them to make informed choices and accept responsibility for their decisions and the consequences. Counselling of minors will be given at the discretion of the counsellor.
»A confidential service where trust and integrity are maintained and respect is shown for the client and her decisions.
»Factual information about foetal development, alternatives to abortion, abortion procedures and possible side effects.
»Support, love and care for those grieving the loss of a pregnancy through whatever means.
»Practical services such as, pregnancy testing, loan of equipment, information about other professional agencies.
»Befriending, to provide additional support and someone to listen.
Our aim at the Pregnancy Crisis Care Centre is to provide a caring relationship, within agreed boundaries, that reflects our Christian commitment, values and understanding.

Confidentiality

Our aim is to provide a confidential service. However, the counselling offered at the Centre is similar to other voluntary care organisations in that we reserve the right to notify other professionals if the client's safety, or any other person's safety is at risk. The decision to break confidentiality will be made with the client's consent whenever possible, unless the advisor has good grounds for believing that the client is unable to take responsibility for her/his action.

Each advisor also has access to supervision to ensure that they are working with integrity and according to the standards of the Centre, but client names remain anonymous. With the client's permission, we will make notes about the discussion. These are available to the client upon request.

Policy On Under 18's

You are welcome to visit if you have any queries on:

»pregnancy
»contraception
»the morning after pill
»abortion

We would encourage all people younger than 18 years to confide in and if possible bring a parent or other responsible adult to the appointment.

Ages 13 and under:
We cannot offer formal counselling, but we will provide factual advice and information.
